Turquoise Patina Wingtip Derby on Bone Calf

The base is a bleached bone calf. Turquoise is washed over the toe, the facings and the top of the quarters and then feathered out, so it fades out at the edge. The wash goes near navy at the toe tip and lifts through green to bare bone by the medallion. Brush marks stay readable across the vamp.

Natural leather welt and sole, left unstained. A plaited cord runs the length of the welt with pale stitches just inside it. Below the cord the sole edge reads a warm chestnut, and the heel is a low stack of leather lifts in that chestnut on a dark top piece.

Full wingtip with medallion punching, red lining, dark laces. The wing edge is gimped and the punch holes sit in a charcoal band left by the patina. The medallion is a fan of dotted arcs. Red shows as a thin line along the facing edges and the tongue. Two pairs of lace holes, punched through the leather with no metal eyelet.

Every pair takes the wash differently.
