The patina starts oxblood at the shaft and is worked down to near black across the toe and around the heel, so the colour shifts as the boot moves. Plain calf, no broguing, nothing to distract from the fade. The red holds along the top edge of the quarter and thins as it wraps back to the counter. The vamp reads black straight on and red on the curve.

Leather sole, low block heel, almond toe. The welt is narrow and trimmed close to the upper, with one row of small even stitches down the toe and both sides. The sole edge is dressed dark and sits almost flush, so the line around the foot stays thin.

Brown elastic gussets on both sides, red leather pull tabs front and back, cream leather lining. The tabs are a lighter brick red than the shaft, edge painted to match and stitched down with one row. That same red runs along the cut edge of the topline, a thin bright line against the dark. The gusset is a flat fine weave in dark brown.
