Hand-Carved Floral Chelsea Boot in Indigo and Cream

The pattern is cut into the hide. It is not a print. Lotus and vine shapes are carved and then beaten back so the cream leather stands proud of the indigo ground, and the depth is visible at any angle. The indigo shifts across a panel, pale and chalky over the toe, almost black inside the deepest cuts.

Stacked leather midsole, black lugged rubber sole, black elastic gussets. The welt stitch is cream and evenly spaced, unbroken from the waist round the toe. The stack under it is left bare, pale natural against darker brown. The lugs are square and deep.

The heel counter is black patent, which stops the pattern cleanly at the back. The gusset is faced in the same carved leather, pleated into vertical ribs. Black ribbed pull loops sit at the back, and the collar is lined in black.

Over the toe the carving opens out and leaves the blue ground bare, so the toe reads as colour. This one takes the longest to make of anything in the range.
