Grey Leather and Black Canvas Messenger Bag with Brass Roller Buckles

The flap is one piece of grey leather, matte, with pale streaks where the hide has been rubbed. The streaks sit across the middle of the panel and belong to the finish. Under it the body is black canvas, flat and close woven, darker than the leather above.

Two leather straps drop from the flap into antique brass roller buckles on the canvas front. The roller on each is brighter brass than its antiqued frame. The left strap is stitched to the flap through a teardrop tab worked with a cross inside a diamond in black thread. The top handle is a rolled leather grip on two squared brass loops, each riveted through a tab.

Round brass rings on the side gussets take the swivel hooks, and both unclip. The shoulder strap is black webbing with leather stitched down both edges, and the sleeve that rides on it is glossy black, the one shiny surface on an otherwise matte bag. A square leather patch is stitched flat on the canvas under the flap.
