Cognac Wholecut Oxford in Hand-Patinated Calf
Wholecut oxford cut from a single piece of calf with no seams across the upper. Cognac hand patina, burnished toe, leather sole.
A wholecut is one piece of hide wrapped around the last with a single seam at the heel. There is nowhere to hide a flaw in the leather, so the hide has to be clean from the start. The patina runs light across the instep and is burnished down at the toe and along the edges. A pale amber stripe runs down the centre of each vamp, and the sides deepen to a red brown that goes almost black at the sole.
Five eyelets, dark brown laces, leather sole and a low stacked heel. The welt is narrow, trimmed close to the upper, with one row of fine even stitching along it. The sole edge is waxed as dark as the burnishing above it, so from the side they run together.
The collar is the darkest leather on the shoe, with a line of close stitching just inside its edge. Pale cream leather lines the inside and shows at the topline against that dark edge. The toe is long and almond shaped, with no cap seam and no broguing. The dressiest lace-up we make.
