Button Spat Loafer in Sage Suede and Dark Brown Patina

This borrows from the button boot. The base is dark brown patinated calf with brogue punching along the top edge, and over it sits a sage green suede panel that runs from the throat to the heel. The patina moves across the vamp: the crown of the toe lifts to a light chestnut and drops to near black at the welt. The suede nap is short and even.

Four antique brass buttons with a worn finish hold the panel down the side. Each is cast with a foliate rosette inside a beaded ring. It pulls on like a loafer despite the look. Leather sole, low stacked heel. The welt is trimmed close and carries one row of stitching, and the sole edge is stained to the darkest brown on the shoe.

The brogue punching is graduated, large holes dropping to small along a gimped edge, and it follows the scalloped line of the spat up over the instep. The topline is bound with a thin dark strip and stitched in a pale thread that shows against the suede.
