Burgundy Polished Leather Briefcase with Cream Stitching and Antique Brass Fittings

The hide is a deep burgundy, darkest down the end panels and around the bottom corners where the dye sits heaviest. Body and end panels are polished to a hard shine. The front pocket panel is the odd one out, matt where the rest is glossy, with a finer grain that shows only under raking light.

Cream stitching runs along the rolled twin handles and down the vertical seam that splits the front panel, doubled there into two rows. Three zips open the outside, and the one below the top seam carries twin gold sliders that meet at the centre. Each pull tab is a flat gold rectangle with a slot cut through it.

The strap comes off. A swivel snap hook clips it to a brass D-ring at the top of the end panel, the hook turns on a second brass ring, and a brass slide sets the drop. Four rows of cream stitching run down the strap. Brass rivets hold the front handle roots, each backed by a triangle of stitching. There are no metal feet under the base.
