Black Hand-Tooled Floral Chelsea Boot on Commando Sole

The same floral and scroll carving used on the tan boots, worked here in black. With no colour contrast the pattern only shows as relief, which changes it completely depending on the light. The beds around each flower are stippled flat so the petals sit above them, and one quarter panel runs from near grey on the raised scrolls to solid black in the cuts.

Black elastic gussets, black pull tab, black lugged commando sole. Everything on it is one colour, including the stitching. A fine welt stitch runs round the toe just above the sole, with a smooth edge band between it and the square rubber lugs. The heel is a low block on the same tread.

The carving stops short of the toe. That last stretch is left plain and polished and is the only part of the boot that catches the light. Where the gusset meets the tooled quarter the edge is punched in a beaded line, so the seam reads as a dotted border.
