Black Chelsea Boot with Gold Curb Chain Harness

The boot underneath is a plain black Chelsea in polished calf with black elastic gussets. The polish is uneven across it: a hard band of light runs along the toe box and the outer vamp, and the quarters behind read almost matte.

What changes it is the harness: a leather strap buckled in gold around the ankle, carrying a heavy gold curb chain across the instep. The strap is stitched in place and does not come off. The buckle is a plain square pin frame, unengraved. A domed gold rivet sits in the quarter below it, and a round gold ring carries the strap down into the first curb link.

Leather pull tab, leather sole, low block heel, almond toe. The welt is narrow and dressed black, with the stitch row visible along the forepart edge.

The heel block is the one part that is not black: its side face is flat pale grey under the glossy quarters. The collar is lined in smooth black and bound with a thin folded edge.
