Black and Tan Reversible Calf Belt with Squared Gold Pin Buckle

This strap is black on one face and tan on the other, and both faces are finished leather. The black side is smooth and close grained, with a low sheen and a faint mottling under raking light. The tan side is flatter and warmer, and its surface is even, with no pore or grain pattern showing through the dye.

The buckle is a gold pin buckle with a squared frame, a straight bottom bar and one prong. Above it sits a hinged clamp held by a screw at one end, which releases the strap so it can be turned over. Each face has its own stitch line set in from the edge: dark thread on the black, cream on the tan. The edges are painted black on both faces, built up thick and left glossy.

The two gold finishes differ. The top plate of the clamp is mirror polished and throws a clean reflection. The angled panel beneath it is brushed in fine parallel lines. Inside the coil the strap ends blunt, with the black edge paint carried round the end.
